Sauna-craze hit aussie actress Emilie de Ravin

Hulluna Saraan star likes liquorice/salmiac (finnish "national candy" that foreigners don't usually like), herring and sauna.

Australian actress Emilie de Ravin, 30, adapted to Finland well. The Lost-star filmed Samuli Valkama's romantic comedy, Hulluna Saraan , in Turku last summer.

-"I was in Finland for 2 months, July and August. The weather was great. Heavy rain surprised us once and I got soaken wet. I just laughed about it," cheerful and nice Emilie tells us from Los Angeles.

Turku was the culture capital of Europe last year.

-"I walked down the sreets and took photos of lively people, art events and the architecture. The cathedral made an impact on me. Aurajoki (river in the middle of Turku) was my compass. Without it I would have gotten lost a lot."

The former ballerina blended in.
-"Occasionally someone recognized me from Lost but other than that I could have been a local. I do have blue eyes and blonde hair (finnish people are often blonde and blue eyed). And I even learned to like liquorice. "

The youngest of the De Ravin- family also spent weekends in Helsinki (capital of Finland).

- "One time we drove to the Flow-festival but we only had time to see Kanye West. We had to go back to Turku early because we had to film the next morning. Another time I visited a small island at the coast of Helsinki. We ate herrings, drank shots and sang drinking songs. I had a cheat sheet because I didn't know the words", she recalls and laughs.

The sauna crazyness of finns surprised her but she became a part of it.

- "Everyone seems to have a sauna. I enjoy it. I like private saunas more than the public ones but the best saunas are the wooden ones. Nothing beats them."

Hulluna Saraan -crew and co-stars Jussi Nikkilä and Ville Virtanen get praise from Emilie.

-"The filming process is the same all over the world. People create the atmosphere, and we had fun. The working language was finnish but everyone spoke fluent english. I learned a few words like second take, thank you, hello, hi and beautiful. My make-up artist used that all the time."

Love and Other Troubles has started promotion. Here's Emilies first finnish interview. Hopefully many more will follow. Love and Other Troubles / Hulluna Saraan will premiere in Finland January 27th!

Emilie talked to a finnish web magazine Lily about some of her male co-stars. I translated the interview from finnish and you can read it below. You can see the original article here!

1. JUSSI NIKKILÄ, Hulluna Saraan
American line dance teacher (de Ravin) messes up the heads of a father an his son (Nikkilä).

"Jussi is honest, open-minded and above all funny. We spent a lot of time together. Towards the end of the film, after filming a scene on a bridge, we saved a field mouse that was trapped. We moved it to an area with grass and I fed it grapes"

2. ROBERT PATTINSON, Remember Me (2010)
2 young persons with a difficult past (de Ravin and Pattinson) fall in love in an emotional romantic drama.

"Robert made me laugh all the time, even when he wasn't trying to be funny. He is tohughtful and honest and he has no ego. He is the opposite of arrogance".

3. JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT Brick (2005)
A high school boy (Gordon-Levitt) tries to solve his girlfriends (de Ravin) drug related death in a dark story.

"Awesome guy: he has the ability to make people feel welcome and relaxed. The filming was also great because the director Rian Johnson had gone to school in the same area so he knew all the cool secret places".

4. JASON BEHR, Roswell (1999-2002)
Some of them were humans, others aliens (de Ravin ja Behr). The Tv-show depicted the lives of teenagers in the UFO city in new Mexico.

"You really are testing my memory! I was an 18 year old beginner then and it was my first big acting job. I asked Jason and the others for help all the time and I asked them to tell me how things work. He was supportive and a really good friend"

New candids of Emilie leaving Lottle Dom's restaurant in Los Feliz LA. These were taken December 3rd. Emilie seems to have cut her hair even shorter. Emilie was at the restaurant with her ex-husband Josh Janowicz. I have no idea what they're situtation is but they seem rather close since they're holding hands. They got a divorce in 2009.

Emilie to Appear on "Once Upon a Time"

Emilie's back on tv! She's going to make a guest appearance on ABC's new show Once Upon a Time. Emilie will be Belle. I'm personally very excited for this. Once Upon a Time is a great show. I hope she gets to do more than one episode. Emilie's episode will air early 2012. To learn more about Once Upon a Time click here!

Once Upon a Time has landed another Lost alum.

Emilie de Ravin, who played Australian castaway Claire on the ABC island mystery series, has been cast as Belle, as in Beauty and the Beast's Belle, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Details of her role are scarce, but we hear Once's Belle will have a connection to Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle). No word on whether the titular Beast will appear, but Gaston is slated to pop up as well.

The 29-year-old Roswell alum has starred in such films as Remember Me, Public Enemies and Brick. She will first appear in Episode 12, slated to air early next year.

Let's start with the updates. Emilie has finished fiming Love and Other Troubles in Finland. However filming will continue in USA next month. I also found out that the film is rumoured to have it's release in Finland next February. I'll let you know if I find anything official on that.

Here's the new interview of Emilie from the set of Love and Other Troubles. It's in finnish but obviously Emilie is speaking english. Emilie's co-star in the video says that Emilie is nice, friendly and not a diva :)

Sorry for being a little late with these. I've been aways for a few days.

Emilie was photographed on the set of LAOT. You can see Emilie's pics here! She look's good as a cowgirl :)

Emilie was also interviewed by a couple of magazines. Iltalehti posted a video of their interview on this website here! The magazine also interviewed Emilie's co-stars Ville Virtanen and Jussi Nikkilä. You can see their interviews here and here. The interviews with Emilie's co-stars are in finnish but you can see Emilie in the videos too. Emilie's co-stars say great things about Emilie in the videos. They say she's professional, nice, well prepared and that "it's a joy to work with her".

New project - Love and Other Troubles

Finally Emilie has a new project. It's a finnish movie called "Love and Other Troubles". Currently I have no idea if the film will be released outside Finland but let's keep our fingers crossed.

Emilie will portray a young american dance instructor who gets involved in a love triangle. The movie is a romantic comedy. Filming will start later this month and finish late August. You can read the synopsis for the film below. I got that from Imdb.

Ville, 25, is a downbeat former child star who's successfully avoided his womanizing rock 'n' roll dad for years. Everything changes when his dad moves into his flat and they both fall in love with the same American line-dancing teacher.

As you all hopefully know, The Chameleon is opening in selected theaters this friday ( July 8). A lot of new stuff has surfaced recently. First of all there's a new official site for the movie. You can see it here! I also posted the new trailer and poster below.

The Chameleon Release Date

The Chameleon has a new release date! Earlier this year the Chameleon was reported to be released June 10th but the actual date is July 8. The date was updated on Lleju's site which is the production company that produced The Chameleon. It will be a limited release and the movie can be seen in 8 cities. The Chameleon US Release Date

The Chameleon has finally got a release date in the US. It will be released in select theaters June 10th. Thank's for the heads up Lucy Pearl at FanForum.

Ellen Barkin and Famke Janssen's The Chameleon will be released in select theaters.
The LLeju Productions film, from French director Jean-Paul Salomé (Les femmes de l'ombre, Arsène Lupin), will open June 10.

Chameleon, which also stars Emilie de Ravin, Brian Geraghty, Nick Stahl and Marc-André Grondin, will be available day and date on VOD.

The psychological drama is based on the true story of Frédéric Bourdin as depicted in the novel by Christophe D’Antonio.

Emilie has been sighted a few times at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in Park City Utah. The sightings have been reported on twitter so no pics are available. Let's hope she attends some parties and film premieres so we get to see her.

Emilie doesn't have a movie showing there so I'm not sure why she is there. Her rumored boyfriend Jeremy Davies has a short film called Animal Love premiering at Sundance tonight so maybe she is there to support him.

I can tell you that Emilie has been sighted a couple of times with her former Lost co-star Jeremy Davies. It seems that they are dating but since nothing official has been announced I'm going to treat this as gossip!

Emilie has been replaced as Mairi Chisholm on the movie's Imdb page. According to Imdb Melanie Lynskey has replaced her. Imdb is not the most reliable site so I'll let you know if this true once I find something more official. In the meantime let's keep our fingers crossed that she is in Four Saints. Emilie really needs to work!

A poster for the film was released and Emilie is not featured in it. So now it's official, she is not in the movie. Let's hope she gets a new role soon!

Today is Blogger's annual Blog Action Day and the cause this year is water. Many people might not realise how severe the global water problem is. Blogger sent me 5 facts about it and I thought I'd share them with you.I also found a good video on this subject on Youtube which I posted below. 5 WATER FACTS:

Unsafe drinking water and lack of sanitation kills more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Unclean drinking water can incubate some pretty scary diseases, like E. coli, salmonella, cholera and hepatitis A. Given that bouquet of bacteria, it's no surprise that water, or rather lack thereof, causes 42,000 deaths each week.
More people have access to a cell phone than to a toilet. Today, 2.5 billion people lack access to toilets. This means that sewage spills into rivers and streams, contaminating drinking water and causing disease.
Every day, women and children in Africa walk a combined total of 109 million hours to get water. They do this while carrying cisterns weighing around 40 pounds when filled in order to gather water that, in many cases, is still polluted. Aside from putting a great deal of strain on their bodies, walking such long distances keeps children out of school and women away from other endeavors that can help improve the quality of life in their communities.
It takes 6.3 gallons of water to produce just one hamburger. That 6.3 gallons covers everything from watering the wheat for the bun and providing water for the cow to cooking the patty and baking the bun. And that's just one meal! It would take over 184 billion gallons of water to make just one hamburger for every person in the United States.
The average American uses 159 gallons of water every day – more than 15 times the average person in the developing world. From showering and washing our hands to watering our lawns and washing our cars, Americans use a lot of water. To put things into perspective, the average five-minute shower will use about 10 gallons of water. Now imagine using that same amount to bathe, wash your clothes, cook your meals and quench your thirst.

New Movie: Four Saints

Sorry for the lack of updates. Emilie has been keeping a really low profile lately so there hasn't been anything to update. And the rumours of Emilie being replaced in Legend of the Guardians did turn out to be true. She is not in that movie.

Finally we have some new news. Emilie has been cast as Mairi Chisholm in a new movie called Four Saints. It's based on a true story and it's a period piece about world war 1. You can read more about the plot below:

The film opens when the British Army finds itself overwhelmed by massive casualties. Major Munro, a physician attached to the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC), decides to organize a volunteer Flying Ambulance Corps. He recruits four women: Elsie Knocker (British), Mairi Chisholm (Scottish), Dorothy Fielding (Canadian) and Helen Gleason (American). The women are sent to a field hospital in Furnes, Flanders. But before long, Elsie discovers that many wounded soldiers die of shock during the transport from the trenches to the hospital. She implores Dr. Munro to move the field hospital closer to the front. When he declines, the four women steal an ambulance, packed with supplies, and begin to operate their own dressing station -- in an abandoned village called Pervyse, a stone's throw away from the trenches. Pervyse is just north of the Ypres 'Salient,' a dangerous bulge in the German lines which actually exposes the Allied soldiers to German artillery from three sides. Many dramatic events intervene, and despite tremendous challenges the post survives until April of 1918, when the massive Ludendorff Offensive threatens not only the lives of the women but the imminent collapse of the Allied armies. Emilie Replaced on Legend of the Guardians ?

There are rumours going on that Emilie has been replaced as Eglantine by Adrienne DeFaria. I have no idea if this is true since nothing official has been announced. Imdb has already replaced Emilies name on their cast list for the film but as we all know Imdb is not the best source for reliable information. I'll keep you posted if I find something official. I do have a bad feeling that this might be true since the official site for the movie does not list Emilie to be in this film.

Let's hope this is not true. Emilie was really excited about doing this and it's just heartbreaking if she got replaced :(

Emmy Nominations

Sadly Emilie didn't get nominated for an Emmy for her work on Lost which really isn't much of a surprise. She didn't get to do much in terms of acting.

Good news is that Lost got 13 nominations. One of the nominations is for best drama which means there is a pretty good chance Emilie will attend the Emmy's if she is not busy doing something else. MTV.com has an article on their site about the upcoming premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. In the article they mention that Emilie has been invited to the premiere of the film which will take place June 24th. I don't know how legit this info is but I'm hoping this is true.

On Thursday at 9:30 p.m. ET, our own Josh Horowitz will be reporting live for two full hours outside the Nokia Theatre, where he'll be joined by Kimmy West, who runs the fan site His Golden Eyes. They will be chatting with the entire cast, including Stewart, Lautner, Pattinson, Fanning, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Burke and Gil Birmingham. Director David Slade, "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer and series screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg will also be stopping by to talk.

Sure, "Lost" is over, but the conversation over the last, somewhat controversial, purgatory-inspired episode still hasn't died down. Emilie de Ravin, who spent five seasons playing Claire Littleton (both the sane and crazy versions), shares her thoughts on why it was the right way to end. - By Jesse Lee and Raha Naddaf

Now that it's all over, what did you really think of the last episode?
Well, I gotta go back to when I was reading it. The whole last script was printed on dark red pages so that it couldn't be copied, and we didn't get the last ten pages until the night before shooting it. I was so moved by it. It wasn't like, Oh, it's the end of Episode 5. It was like, Wow, this is the last time I will ever read a "Lost" script again. That had major resonance.

Some fans weren't as moved.
I don't think everyone is going to be satisfied with the end of every show or every movie, especially something complex like this where you can't answer every question. That's one thing I heard: Why didn't they answer everything! But it's sort of boring to answer everything. You'd need another 500 episodes to do so. And I thought it ended in such a beautiful way.

Were there any questions that you had that went unanswered?
I would have liked to know more about what happened with Claire and her mother and their relationship.

I was always curious about why Claire's baby daddy's paintings were in Charles Widmore's office.
Me too! I thought the dad was going to come back in some way. And the mother.

Did you like playing crazy Claire?
I did. I really did. It was nice to do something different after four seasons.

She had gone from being someone who's always holding a baby in the scenes—
Yeah, I couldn't be involved in the activities. Just standing on the beach, saying, See you guys!

Then you became a gun-wielding badass.
It was great to be able to do such different things. It wasn't a show about five people doing the same thing every day.

It's no "Friends."
Yeah, it was creatively stimulating. I don't think I could have done a show for that long if it was the same thing every episode.

Is it tough saying goodbye to a character you've known for so long?
It is. But maybe crazy Claire shouldn't hang around in my mind for too long. That could be dangerous.

Speaking of crazy, as we learned from the Jimmy Kimmel "Lost" special, Marilyn Manson is a huge fan of the show.
He is. He did a painting of Terry O'Quinn, and then he had given Naveen Andrews a baby's skull to give me, like it was Aaron's skull. It was funny to me, but I was worried that people would think that I was some kind of baby killer. Then I'd have to go and do a PSA about how much I love children.

Did you get to keep the creepy "squirrel baby" from the show?
No! I think Damon and Carleton took it. I was so pissed. We were all getting asked this in interviews last year—What's the one thing you want to keep?—and I was like, Definitely the squirrel baby. But, nope. I didn't get it.

Did you at least get to keep the crazy tangled wig?
I decided that I didn't want to ever see that again in my life, actually.

It was messy.
Yeah, where was my soap!

You've had an interesting track record with your acting roles. In the TV shows "Roswell" and "Lost" and in movie Brick, you played a pregnant woman.
I must have some sort of maternal draw to me. I do love children, but I don't really talk about that in auditions. Hi! I really love kids! Book me! But I keep reading scripts that are like that, too.

Is that something that happens a lot with actresses?
I think men get the same offers as well (laughs). There was a rumor in an Australian tabloid about Robert Pattinson that said he was pregnant. I remember him telling me this. I just cracked up. What has the world come to?

Are you worried that you're going to be answering questions about "Lost" for the rest of your life?
No, I really think it's great.

And now you don't have to hold back and be coy when answering. That must have been annoying.
Yeah! Damn you, interesting show!

Financed by a consortium of foreign and American companies, the film benefits from its significant funding source in its Hollywood-style production values. The spooky backdrop of the swampy Mississippi River bayou adds just the right amount of mystery to this intriguing tale of loss and faith. The Chameleon is primarily story-driven, compelling and hopeful, like a good book that's impossible to put down. Knowing that the film is based on a true story allows the suspension of disbelief which might otherwise cloud the viewer's perception. I attended the film's initial showing. Stars Famke Janssen and Ellen Barkin were called onstage beforehand by director/co-writer Jean-Paul Salomé. However, despite being the very first screening of a World Premiere, there was no Q&A afterward

Lightning Thrills to “Chameleon”

Great news! The Chameleon will be released outside France :)

Santa Monica based sales and distribution company Lightning Entertainment has acquired international sales rights to the US/French mystery thriller “The Chameleon.” The film, which recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, is written and directed by Jean-Paul Salome (“Female Agents”) and stars Marc-Andre Grondin (“C.R.A.Z.Y.”), Ellen Barkin (“Twelve,” “Brooklyn’s Finest”), Famke Janssen (“Hide and Seek”), Emilie de Ravin (“Remember Me”), Brian Geraghty (“The Hurt Locker”) and Nick Stahl (“In The Bedroom”).

Lightning Entertainment is handling international sales outside of France. Leading French production and distribution company Gaumont will release the film theatrically in France on June 23, 2010. ICM is representing the film for North America. The acquisition was negotiated on behalf of Lightning by Rich Goldberg, Richard Guardian and Corporate Counsel Megan Holstein. Filmmakers were repped by Cooper Richey, ICM’s Bic Tran, and attorney Alan Sacks.
