'Lost' star says years has taken 'a toll' on Claire

Emilie was busy in Toronto yesterday doing Remember Me promotion. Here's a new interview! I'll post more stuff later :)

TORONTO — "Lost" star Emilie de Ravin says she's excited to be back as a series regular on the final season of the sci-fi smash.

She says it's been especially challenging now that her character, the young mother Claire, has suddenly emerged as a violent and unpredictable force on the show, about a plane-load of castaways marooned on a strange island.

The Australian actress was written out of the previous season when most of the characters escaped the island for three years, leaving Claire behind.

During a stop in Toronto to promote an upcoming film, de Ravin says Claire has been through a lot since viewers last saw her, and has had to rely on a reincarnated Locke as her only friend in the jungle.

De Ravin says Claire's only focus has been on finding her son Aaron, and that's built up a lot of frustration and anger which emerges in violent and unpredictable ways.

She says she still has several weeks of shooting left on the show, and is as mystified as fans are as to how things will wrap up.

"It's been really fun this season because not only can I still play sort of the old Claire, or the original Claire in flashes, but ... three years has taken a bit of a toll on (new) Claire and she's a little different right now," de Ravin said Thursday while in town to promote her upcoming film, "Remember Me."

"She's been living on her own. Her only contact has been with Locke who is no longer Locke, or as she calls him, her friend. Her only objective in these three years ... is to try and find her son, to try and find Aaron. That's all she's been trying to do and it hasn't worked so there's quite a bit of built up frustration there as well, which comes out in quirky ways but also violent ways and unpredictable manner."

Last Tuesday's episode was full of surprise revelations involving a gun-toting, wild-haired Claire and the other castaways.

While Claire appears to be under the sway of a nasty version of Locke, Jacob leads Hurley (who in turn, leads Jack) to a lighthouse where they find a bizarre contraption consisting of dials and mirrors that reveal their lives off the island.

De Ravin admits to hoping for a happy ending for her character, but given the show's wild leanings, notes anything is possible.

"It'd be nice to see her back with Aaron," said de Ravin. "But that could also happen, I suppose, in a (time) flash. It doesn't have to happen in island time."

Robert Pattinson Talking about Emilie and Her Accent

This is a nice little interview so I thought I'd share.

Robert Pattinson's Aussie co-Star in the drama Movie Remember Me, Emilie de Ravin, had just four days to adopt the accent of a working class girl from New York's Queens.

"We went to Queen's for a little bit and tried to pick up something," says Pattinson.

"It's nothing like her Australian accent. Her Australian accent, I can't even describe it, it's just raucous...it's the most Australian out of every-one I've met."

The movie tells the story of two lovers whose newfound relationship is threatened as they try to cope with family tragedies. Melbourne actress de Ravin, 28, a star of hit TV series Lost, was cast in Remember Me because of the instant chemistry with Pattinson.

"I read with a tonne of girls for the part and watch loads of auditon tapes. She was the last person who came in," Pattinson says.

"It's so funny, the script is written for a Spanish girl from the Bronx, and she's the total opposite of it. Bust she did have it, as soon as she walked into the room.

"She was just really spunky and she had a real hard-core attitude about her."

Rogue's Gallery News

Finally some news about Rogues' Gallery/Operation Endgame. It has a distributor and it's coming out sometime later this year. Read all about it below.

The name seems to have been officially changed to Operation: Endgame. I think Rogue's Gallery was a better name but whatever. I'll try to find something more official on this later.

Anchor Bay picks up 'Operation: Endgame'

Anchor Bay Films has acquired distribution rights in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia andd New Zealand, to Fouad Mikati’s action-thriller "Operation: Endgame," starring Zach Galifianakis, Rob Corddry, Odette Yustman, Emilie de Ravin and Ellen Barkin.

Endgame centers around two rival teams of government assassins.

The film was produced by Michael Ohoven of Infinity Media and Richard Kelly of Darko Entertainment. Infinity's Kevin Turen and Darko's Sean McKittrick also served as producers.

A third quarter release is planned.

Ohoven negotiated the deal with Bill Clark, Kevin Kasha and Richard Turner for Anchor Bay.

'Lost' Star Emilie de Ravin On Claire's Hair, Furry Friends and Island Enemies

AOL Televison interview with Emilie talking about Lost. Watch out for Lost spoilers!

If the end of the third episode of this season of 'Lost,' titled 'What Kate Does,' made your jaw drop a little, you're not alone.

Just the sight of Claire Littleton -- our long lost 'Lost' friend -- was enough to inspire cheers. But Claire with a rifle, some old fatigues and seriously ratted out hair? Yikes.

I caught up with Emilie de Ravin on the set of 'Lost' in Oahu to find out how Claire is doing, mentally, this season on the Island. She also spilled a bit about her new furry friend, her old deceptive friend Locke (who we now know lovingly as Smocke) and the incestuous, Drive Shaft-filled twists and turns to come before the end.

Hey -- anything's possible on this show, right?

So Claire is crazy, huh?
[Laughs] In a nutshell, yes!

Funny you say the word "nutshell" because I've heard something about a squirrel baby ...
Mmmhmmm ... I've made myself a squirrel child out of squirrel bones and some kind of fur and little button eyes. He's real cute.

Obviously you can't just disappear with your father in that cabin for a full season and not have repercussions, so is this what's happened?

Yeah, she's been three years, living on her own, making her own housing and food and protecting herself. The only person she's had contact with as a friend is Locke -- who's not really Locke anymore. So any information that she's been given about what's going on with other people or the Island is from him. And there are maybe some things that are not the whole truth. He's led her to believe that the Others have her baby at the Temple, so that's been her whole plan this last three years, to get him back. Finding out that he's off the Island and Kate is bringing him up is just like a complete, complete shock to her. So there's an interesting relationship with Claire and Kate now -- a combination of animosity, to say the least, and also respect and thanks. So that's been fun playing with.

Kind of crazy to think that while Kate was raising Aaron, she was doing so with Jack, Claire's brother
.
[Laughs] Yes -- we're getting very incestuous on this show!

Well as long as Claire and Jack aren't the ones sleeping together and having the baby, I guess I'm OK with it ...
Oh, you didn't read the next episode? [Laughs] I wouldn't be surprised! That's the season finale.

Let's talk hair, because wow -- this is a wig, right?

Yeah, thank god, right? I probably would've shaved it off by now if this was done to my hair everyday.

It's very Rousseau-esque. Are we to assume Claire is just the new Rousseau of the Island?
In a respect. Their characters are very different. Traits are similar in a way, but [Claire] is still trying to figure out, at this point, what really is going on, what has happened in these three years, as opposed to just what she's been told. That point of realization -- like, hang on, maybe everything that's been embedded in my mind is not correct -- even though she's so sure about it.

So since you're the one playing it, do you think there's a way she can snap out of it? Or will Claire just end up on the Island still crazy?

I mean, the evolution this season for her character is sort of coming back to who Claire was. You know, she's still there, underneath it all, even though she's pretty damn loopy. There's still flickers of who Claire is and was, and maybe will be again. Or not.

Maybe all it would take is a Drive Shaft song and she'd be back to her old self!
Exactly! [Laughs] That'd be funny. 'Wait ... hang on!

Happy Valentines Day!

First of all I just want to say that I'm sorry for not updating the site during the last couple of days. I've been really busy with real life. I'll try to post all the stuff that I missed today.

Let's start with this TV Guide video of Emilie and some of her Lost co-stars talking about the last season of Lost.

"Emilie de Ravin Spills Lost Secrets"

Here's a new interview from People.Com. Emilie talk's about Lost.

Lost’s final season continues Tuesday with a Kate-centric outing that promises not only to shed more light on the mysteries surrounding the freckled fugitive (Evangeline Lilly) but also the back-with-a-vengeance Claire (Emilie de Ravin).

The two characters’ journeys have long been intertwined, thanks to the child they both love: Aaron. Kate stepped up to raise the son Claire gave birth to on the island after the single mom disappeared — and briefly resurfaced in Jacob’s cabin — during season 4. And judging from last week’s premiere — when a handcuffed Kate hijacked Claire’s cab in a desperate attempt to elude the U.S. Marshall intent on bringing her to justice — not even the new flash-sideways can keep the two women out of each other’s lives.

Expect further evidence of that tonight. “Claire’s not about to stay in a cab with some crazy woman pointing a gun at her,” says de Ravin of her character’s attempted escape. “But something happens where, like it or not, she sort of needs Kate’s help.” Could that something involve Claire’s pregnancy? After all, in this new never-crashed-on-the-island timeline, Claire is still rockin’ a baby bump. “Oh, yes, the lovely bump is back,” says de Ravin, who thought she’d managed to get rid of that particular piece of wardrobe when Claire had Aaron in season 1. “At least this time I don’t have to wear it on the beach in 100-degree weather sweating my ass off.”

Viewers have yet to see how Claire reappears — or in what condition — in the island timeline, though they soon will. De Ravin, for one, is a fan of the hush-hush twist. “There’s definitely been a lot going on with her,” the actress says of Claire. “I’m coming back as sort of a whole new character so that’s really fun for me.”

For de Ravin, who spent her season-five hiatus from the show shooting several films, the development also eases the anxiety she’s long had over the character. “It explains why she left her child under a tree,” de Ravin says. “I was relieved [to find out] she just wasn’t a terrible mother. She always seemed so sweet.”

And what of Aaron’s surrogate mom, Kate? According to executive producer Carlton Cuse, not even witnessing the seeming rebirth of a dead Sayid at the close of last week’s episode will keep Sawyer and Jack off her mind. “Kate is trying to get her bearings because she’d held out hope in the [season 5] finale that this bomb detonation was really going to work,” Cuse says. “But now here she is on the island and the two guys she cares about most are at each other’s throats — and she’s not really sure where she stands with either one of them.” Don’t you just hate when that happens?
